Precise diagnostics for endometriosis.
Endometriosis is one of the most common causes of infertility and affects up to 40% of women who wish to have a child. The disease, in which endometrial tissue grows outside the uterus, can cause severe pain and impairments of fertility. At the Wunschbaby Institut Feichtinger we rely on precise diagnostics to analyse the effects of endometriosis on the fallopian tubes, ovaries or egg maturation. The experienced specialists we work with use state-of-the-art ultrasound technology and, if necessary, minimally invasive procedures to establish a clear diagnosis and develop the right therapy.
Endometriosis affects many women and can make the wish for a child considerably more difficult. However, our comprehensive studies show that targeted fertility treatment offers excellent chances of success even with endometriosis. What our study means for your treatment.
Our comprehensive study led by Priv.-Doz. DDr. Michael Feichtinger with more than 2,500 childless couples and 8,000 treatment cycles has shown that endometriosis does not necessarily reduce the chances of success of a fertility treatment. Even though the number of eggs in IVF stimulations is often lower, the cumulative pregnancy rate – i.e. the chance of a live birth after several treatment cycles – remains comparable to that of women without endometriosis. We therefore give preference to single embryo transfer and cryo cycles in order to maximise the success rate and minimise obstetric complications. For patients who have already had endometriosis surgery, we also offer advice on fertility preservation, such as freezing eggs before surgical interventions.
