Making the future parents’ chromosomes visible.
At the Wunschbaby Institut Feichtinger we can examine the chromosomes of the future parents by means of so-called karyotype analyses. The genetic material is made visible from a blood sample of the patient and her partner.
Even completely healthy people can carry certain chromosomal changes that have no effect whatsoever on their own lives – but that can lead to chromosomal misdistributions in the egg or sperm.
Benefits
Our analyses allow us to detect these changes and, following a genetic counselling session, to select genetically unremarkable embryos by means of preimplantation genetic testing (PGT). At our institute, a chromosome analysis is the basic prerequisite for performing PGT.
This analysis can significantly improve the likelihood of becoming pregnant during fertility treatment and giving birth to a healthy child.
Indication
We recommend chromosome analyses for the following patient groups:
- couples who have been trying in vain for a long time to fulfil their wish for a child
- couples who have already been through several unsuccessful IVF attempts
- in cases of recurrent miscarriage (abortus habitualis)
- couples who wish to undergo preimplantation genetic testing
Four steps to your results.
The examination takes around three to four weeks from the blood draw to the final report.

In the genetics laboratory, the chromosomes are made visible and examined for changes.
