Late parenthood: options for reproductive precaution

Family is a master plan for many of us: children are seen by many people as part of a fulfilled life and, sooner or later, become part of it. The trend, however, is towards becoming parents later in life. Women often have their first child only in their mid or late thirties, even though optimal fertility lies between the ages of 22 and 32. After that, the number and quality of oocytes decline – markedly from the age of 35. Once egg quality decreases, even reproductive medicine can help only to a limited extent. There are, however, options for precaution.

With the help of a special concept, it is possible on the one hand to check at an early stage whether enough oocytes are still available, and on the other hand it can now be determined how effectively they – like all other cells, the smallest building blocks of our body – are working. Using the body’s natural monitoring of fertility is based on an individually tailored age-related concept of reproductive precaution that takes a holistic approach and draws on interdisciplinary, cross-topic knowledge.
