At our free orientation sessions you get to know our medical team, our range of services and our premises with no obligation – online via Zoom or on site. We give you an overview of your treatment options and answer all your questions.

We get to know each other and develop your individual treatment plan based on the available test results. In a first personal consultation you receive comprehensive advice: together we analyse your situation and suggest the method best suited to your individual needs.

Our own genetics laboratory helps identify causes of unfulfilled desire to have children or recurrent miscarriage, and enables well-founded counselling before and during treatment. Because the analyses are not sent to external laboratories, results are available quickly and flow directly into your treatment plan.

Hormone injections, which you can easily administer yourself at home, stimulate your ovaries to mature several eggs. How to use the medication is explained and demonstrated in detail at the start of treatment and can be done by the patient herself or her partner – daily visits to the clinic are not necessary.

Close-meshed ultrasound examinations track the number of follicles, their growth and the build-up of the uterine lining. Once the follicles have reached a certain size, ovulation is triggered with medication – this determines the ideal moment for egg retrieval.

36 hours after the trigger injection, the eggs are retrieved through the vagina in an outpatient procedure. It takes only about 5–15 minutes; to make it easier, our patients receive a combination of sedative and pain medication. All that is needed afterwards is an observation period of 1 to 2 hours in our recovery rooms.

The retrieved eggs are fertilised on the same day: in classic IVF, prepared sperm are brought together with the eggs and fertilisation happens the "natural" way. If sperm quality is reduced, ICSI is used, in which a single sperm is injected directly into the egg.

The next day we check under the microscope how many eggs show signs of successful fertilisation.

2–5 days after fertilisation, 1–2 embryos are placed into the uterus under ultrasound guidance using a thin, flexible catheter. The embryos of the best quality are selected for the transfer; it takes only a few minutes and is generally painless.

At the earliest two weeks after the transfer, a pregnancy can be confirmed by detecting the pregnancy hormone hCG. The probability of becoming pregnant through IVF treatment at the Wunschbaby Institut Feichtinger is around 72%.
