A pioneer since 1983.
The Wunschbaby Institut Feichtinger (WIF) was founded in 1983 by Prof. Wilfried Feichtinger. He was regarded as the “medical father” of Austria’s first IVF baby, born in Vienna in 1982 and one of the first children worldwide to come into the world this way. Since its founding, the WIF has supported the birth of more than 30,000 healthy babies and is internationally regarded as one of the leading fertility clinics.
The institute has its own in-house genetics department, headed by the renowned geneticist Prof. Markus Hengstschläger. The WIF is considered a pioneer of genetic diagnostics in in vitro fertilisation (IVF) in Europe. Today, the Wunschbaby Institut Feichtinger in Vienna has been led by Priv.-Doz. DDr. Michael Feichtinger since 2018, while the WIF branch in Lower Austria is headed by Dr. Alena Pichler.

Our fertility clinic was the first institution of its kind in Austria to be awarded the state seal of quality for family-friendly employers. The award was presented at a ceremony in the Aula der Wissenschaften in Vienna by Claudia Plakolm, Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Family.
