My wish for my clinic is that it is a place where people truly feel seen and taken seriously with their desire to have a child.
Medical Director, Wunschbaby Institut Feichtinger
5 questions for Priv.-Doz. DDr. Michael Feichtinger.
What led you to reproductive medicine?
“Reproductive medicine is, in a sense, in my blood. From earliest childhood I witnessed the great hope and deep gratitude of the couples affected. Since my early twenties I have been engaged in scientific research in reproductive medicine and have published numerous national and international research projects in the leading journals. As a result, I have had the privilege of accompanying couples on their fertility journey with the highest level of expertise for many years now.”
What does the desire to have a child mean to you personally?
“As a father of two, the desire to have a child is something very concrete for me: responsibility, closeness and an everyday life that changes for good. As a reproductive medicine specialist I see every day how distressing an unfulfilled desire to have a child can be, and I therefore take this wish very seriously. Both perspectives help me to communicate the medical possibilities realistically without losing sight of the people behind them.”
What do you value most about your work?
“I don’t just work with diagnoses and therapies – I accompany people through a very sensitive phase of their lives. What motivates me is offering realistic perspectives while speaking honestly about chances and limitations. I am driven to critically examine scientific findings and integrate them meaningfully into everyday clinical practice. That way, I feel I can offer my patients the best possible medicine at all times.”
What motivates you personally?
“What motivates me above all is that reproductive medicine is constantly evolving, and standing still is not an option for my patients. Through continuous further training I can make treatments more precise, safer and more individual.”
What do you wish for your clinic?
“My wish for my clinic is that it is a place where people truly feel seen and taken seriously with their desire to have a child. That medical quality becomes tangible through time, listening and honest support. For my team, I wish for cohesion, joy in their work and the shared feeling of doing something meaningful. And that, despite all the technology, we never forget how much hope and vulnerability accompany every treatment.”
