The story of the Wunschbaby Institut begins at Vienna General Hospital (AKH): in 1982, the birth of Austria’s first “test-tube baby” was celebrated there – one of the first children worldwide to be born this way. More than 30,000 children have been born with our help since then.

Birth of the first IVF baby in Austria – cared for by Prof. Wilfried Feichtinger at Vienna General Hospital (AKH).

1983Founding of the institute
Prof. Wilfried Feichtinger, the “medical father” of Austria’s first IVF baby, founds the Wunschbaby Institut in Vienna.

1984Gentler egg retrieval
Development of ultrasound-guided transvaginal follicle aspiration – the worldwide standard to this day.

1988Psychotherapeutic support
Introduction of psychotherapeutic support by Doz. Kemeter.

1990Assisted hatching
Introduction of laser-assisted hatching and development of a laser device suitable for this purpose.

The journey to your longed-for baby begins with an in-depth first consultation – usually a full hour. First we get to know each other and discuss what matters most: your personal wishes and concerns. If you already have recent test results, please bring them with you.
